Dancesport makes you go places you would probably never even think of visiting otherwise. Kiev - where we spent one of the last weekends - was one of such places for us. We spent one whole day there before the comp in order to enjoy some of its unique atmosphere and culture.
This is the first on-demand article. What are the set backs of travelling to a competition? What should you take into account? Where to begin? In the following paragraphs you will find a few helpful tipps.
In Bucharest, the reality slaps you in the face pretty hard. The majority of the buildings is damaged and cries for reconstruction. The image above does not show the entrance to our accommodation but it is pretty close. We were not staying in a particularly rich part of the town but if you go to the centre, the impression will not be much different. On the other hand, everything costs peanuts here - the cheapest taxi ride will cost you 25 Euro Cents per kilometer.
If you want to dance an international competition and you don't want to spend a fortune, Romania is the right place for you. We drove 800 to Sibiu (and back). Is it worth it?
The sun is shining, the beach and the refreshing see is highly seducing, the holiday feeling could not be more perfect. It's 35°C out there. Still, a few insane beings put on their tail suits, long dresses and get ready to sweat on the floor. Welcome to Kavala!
I'm back from my summer break and I still owe you my impressions from Kavala. Apart from that I will also upload a few pictures from that beautiful place. We are also organizing a little fitness workshop here in Vienna, so I will share a few excercises with you which you can simply do after you practice. We are currently preparing for the Styrian Open, the comp review will follow as well.
A hot pre-summer weekend in Szeged. If you still feel up to it at this point, Szeged is the right place to pimp up your bikini body before the holidays.
Vasek and I are travelling a lot and we want to share our experience with you ;-) Follow us on instagram! #katyscornercom
Olomouc - a Czech town only two hours' drive from Vienna. A beautiful place with a very nice competition.
You simply do not want to miss the probably most amusing masters of ceremonies in the history of dancing competitions. A very nice and well organized competition.
Another comp in Romania. The waiting times aspire to a Guinness record. We really had the time of our lives (ba dum tss).
After a lot of rounds and a very short night in Bucharest, the next stop for Vasek and me was Ljubljana. In order to arrive in time, we flew back to Vienna where we took this cute little plane to Ljubljana. We then used our personal shuttle (sometimes called "mum") which brought us from the airport to the hall. Sometimes you just feel like doing crazy stuff, right?
You could argue about whether Bucharest is a city worth visiting. Well, from the financial poit of view it certainly is. And if you are one of those adrenaline freaks, just hop in a romanian taxi...
This year we spent Easter in Berlin once again where (in spite of the dance ban on Good Friday in Germany) the traditional competition "Blaues Band der Spree" took place.
Last weekend, the beautiful city hall of Vienna hosted the yearly Vienna Dance Concourse, this time including the Viennese regional championship. Since Vienna is my hometown, I am afraid I can't promise you a perfectly impartial report.
Last week we paid a little visit to Bassano del Grappa. A rather not-so-short journey of 7 hours to the beauties of Italy…
If you are into language puzzles and searching for entertainment, you don’t want to miss the Hungarian open in Budapest!
The college holidays were really tough for us. After four days in the Bundessportzentrum Schielleiten (Styria, Austria) we went to Munich (Germany), where the top couples from all over the world participated in the Artistic Camp.
What you absolutely need for a dancesport camp...
Here are some selfies and snapshots with our friends and coaches from the last year. This year we'll be on the road again and I'll tell you about our experience here. I'm looking forward to it!
(1 Madrid/ 2 Tilburg/ 3 Pisa/ 4 Berlin/ 5 Bucharest/ 6 Trencin/ 7 Rome)
This is my first entry, a report about the competition in Madrid. Have a look at it, maybe we'll see each other there next year ;-)
